Bio & Bands
Steve Giannaros
Steve Giannaros is a superb saxophonist and charismatic music man. His academic roots lie in the wheel-and-deal side of the music business; he received a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts in 1998, majoring in Music Business. Following up his education with a quick move to his true love -- performing music -- Steve never looked back. Over the past several years, Steve has built a solid reputation in Boston and beyond as an extraordinary player. He's joined forces with up-and-comers as well as established leaders in the music industry. Steve has performed and/or recorded with: Organism, The Ryan Montbleau Band, The Freelance Bishops, Two Ton Shoe, Ken Clark, Sam Kininger, The Chad Hollister Band, Larry Coryell, Jen Kearney, Blacksnake, Toussaint, George Garzone, The Boston Horns, Justin Beech, Jeff Lockhart, Bruce Bartlett, Les Claypool, and Yahuba Garcia and The Pollotronik All-Stars, just to name a few. Along his journey, Steve's enjoyed lots of "fun" gigs in the past, playing for Carnival Cruise Lines, and acting as Manager for the house band at the Foxy Lady in Brockton.
Never content to remain in one place musically, Steve constantly pushes the fringe of his art, experimenting with various genres and combining them to create a unique fusion that contains elements of traditional and contemporary jazz, funk, soul, acid jazz, drum n’ bass, and electronica.
Steve has also studied with internationally recognized New England Conservatory professor Jerry Bergonzi.
Steve resides in the Boston area, with his seeing eye dog, Dakota, where he surrounds himself by a constant parade of amazing local musicians.
